Roger Poirier, CFA

Roger is the Founder of Whiteshell Group Inc. Roger is also the Co-Founder of Hazelview Ventures, a wholly owned subsidiary venture capital fund focused exclusively on innovative, early-stage PropTech, BuildTech, and CleanTech companies.

Roger has spent his entire career working with entrepreneurs to help them grow their companies and realize their potential. He has helped companies succeed by focusing on growth initiatives, funding strategies, and ultimately monetization. Roger’s hands-on operational expertise, across varying industries, has allowed him to collaborate and add value in complex environments.

Before founding Whiteshell Group Inc., Roger was the Co-Founder and Director of Cormark Securities, a Toronto-based mid-market institutional equities boutique. Throughout his tenure at Cormark, he held various roles including Managing Director, Investment Banking and Deputy Chair, Risk Committee. Roger was directly involved in the completion of high-profile equity and debt offerings and several successful merger & acquisition transactions.

Roger holds a Chartered Financial Analyst designation and currently sits on various corporate and advisory boards in Canada and the U.S., including Newtopia, a public tech-enabled health company. He is also the Chair of Toronto French School (TFS), attended by two of his three teenage children. Originally from Manitoba, Roger, and his wife Jennifer, call Toronto home.

Kieran Young, FEA

Co-Founder, Whiteshell Alternative Strategies Inc.

Kieran has deep experience in working directly with families with intergenerational wealth, having supported first generation wealth builders and families who have successfully transferred wealth for as many as 6 generations.

Kieran is an experienced Family Enterprise Advisor ^TM who is passionate in helping families leverage their financial capital to shape and sustain their philanthropic strategies. His professional ecosystem includes a deep roster of trusted third party advisors who are industry leaders in areas that include eldercare, healthcare, UHNW investment solutions, family governance, tax, estate planning and concierge services. 

Kieran possesses the unique experience that comes with having been the trusted advisor to some of Canada’s wealthiest families, including an appreciation for the privacy and integrity required in that role. Real estate is an important asset class among families with intergenerational strategies, and as Co-Head of the Partnership Office team at Hazelview Investments, Kieran works closely with families and their trusted advisors in support of their investments in private and public real estate.

Kieran is the Co-Founder of Whiteshell Alternative Strategies Inc. and a graduate of the HBA program at the Ivey Business School, University of Western Ontario.  He is the Co-Founder of the Children’s Impact Foundation and has enjoyed supporting the Daily Bread Food Bank as a hands-on volunteer.
